” URBAN AREA open spaces – Salerno “, a project divided into three basic phases, the first of which began on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Primary School Star of the Comprehensive “A. Cat “Battipaglia (SA).

 ” The more I know, the greater becomes my world “is the phrase that will accompany the students of the school each morning before entering the classroom, thanks to the intervention mural site specific artist Andalusian Raul Ruiz , alias ” El Niño De Las Pinturas “(Granada – Spain) which these days has painted one of the exterior walls of the school.

 The Italian and foreign artists, internationally recognized, specially invited to paint some exterior walls of the schools of the Province who welcomed the project, will be joined, until the month of February 2015, the operators of the association a.DNA, which held simultaneously a laboratory with some classes of the institutions concerned. The main aim of the workshop is the direct involvement of the students in the project, which does not assist passively to the realization of the work, but will themselves to perform a second operation mural thanks to a group effort.

During the five-day workshop at the Primary School Star of Battipaglia, the children of the three classes in the 5th year they gave color to the concrete structure of the wheelchair ramp at the entrance of the Institute, riqualificandola and giving it new life. From Monday, December 15, the day when the children have learned theoretically the message of active behind the project, following the slide of some works of artists crucial to the evolution of urban art, have explored in detail the differences between writing , street art and public art , condemning spontaneously vandalism and dirty walls. Painting the walls of the ramp for the disabled under the leadership of the organizers, the students have acquired specific painting techniques: the composition of the colors to the construction of three-dimensional geometric shapes, from the creation of texture with colorful handprints to calligraphy, writing your name with brushes. But above all they have learned that before you create a work on the wall, you need to practice on other media and formulate a study specifically designed for the context in which it operates, respecting it.

The entire concept of the project was born, in fact, to put in direct connection and free citizens, places and spaces that cross daily, through public art interventions that revaluing the historical and artistic heritage present in the area and enhance the identity socio cultural world of the centers that make up the urban area included in the Salerno Gulf of Salerno .

For this reason the association a.DNA pays no attention to the construction of a festival, but the realization of parallel interactions between the intervention of the pupils and the artist invited, marking meeting points thanks to both types of work performed.

The decision to have a first contact with the area through educational institutions, was dictated by the orientation and experimental educational research that the association wants to give to the project, establishing a direct relationship with the generations more receptive to change and the formulation of an identity that lives in the present with the knowledge of the past and respect for the future.
