On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery (Alabama) Rosa Parks refused to obey a bus driver order to give up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled. Parks’ act of defiance and the related Montgomery Bus Boycott became important symbols of the modern Civil Rights Movements. On December 13th 2015, a new train station, named “Rosa Parks”, will be inaugurated in memory of “the first lady of civil rights” . The local municipality decided to create a big mural (400 square meters) to honor Rosa Parks. Below some pictures of the work in progress.
This mural is still work in progress, so if you are in Paris or plan to visit Paris in the next days don’t hesitate to go and see it, rue d’Aubervilliers (Paris 19).
Next Saturday (December 5th) at 5:30PM Street Art Kashink will do a live event.
You may consider a modest donation — however much you can afford, when it comes from the heart, it’s the kind of gesture that makes us warm with appreciation.
