DOURONE, the artist – the traveler

DOURONE started with graffiti in Madrid (Spain) in 1999. His style is defined as SENTIPENSANTE (Contraction of the spanish words “feeling” and “thinking”, a style created by the Uruguayan journalist and writer Eduardo Galeano). In 2012, he starts working with Elodieloll and started a world tour. “ART FOR THE PEOPLE”

-What you choose to drink? Coffee, Tea, Beer, Soda or something else?

I like to get up with a coffee. And then I have a bad habit of drinking soda.

-Introduce yourself to us!

My name is Dourone and I am an artist.

– Where does your tag name come from?

It was the first name I gave me for myself. I don’t pick it because of its meaning but because of its shape, how the letters fit together.

-How do you define yourself? Artist? Street artist? Anything else?

Until very recently I didn’t define myself as an artist until I realized that I was living like an artist.

– How did it all start for you, and what is it nowadays?

It started since very little, I don’t remember the exact age but I remember going to my grandma house in Alcorcón (Madrid) and said:” Wait grandma, I want to stop by the drawings” refer to the graffiti pieces.
I always liked to do it, I spent a lot of time drawing when I was a kid and I did my first graffiti piece at 14 old years. 16 years later, I am still doing the same but with a meaning. It’s not only an enjoyment, it’s also a responsibility.

-What is the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?

The thing I always do is to drink a coffee!

-Street art is mostly a visually stimulating form of art. To add one more sense to it, what music would you pick to accompany your art work?

Usually when I paint the music playing in my earphones is rap and hip hip. But it’s not the only musical style I like but it’s definitely the one I identify myself.

-In all forms of art, inspiration is crucial. What is it that inspires you?

I feel inspired by the life experience, the relations with the people, the human part as an unity, the places where I am staying…

-What is the hardest part while working on a piece of art?

The most difficult part is to have the idea and a good one.

-Do you have an artist(s) you admire and what for?

I admire a lot of artists and all for different reasons.

-Which cities are the most inspiring for you?

Is not the city itself that inspired me but the experiences I have got from it. So, I don’t have a favourite city, what I prefer is to discover cities I don’t know yet.

-What other passions do you have apart from art?
My personal life.

-Do you have a wild project that you dream of achieving some day?

My wild project is keeping painting.

-Tell us about your art, does it include symbolisms, messages or repeated patterns?

I use al lot of time the infinity symbol but this infinity is related to the art piece and the art piece is related with a series of values that are those I would like them to last forever.

– How long time does a piece of art work of yours usually survive for?

It depends on how much the people like it!
-What do people first think of, or feel, when they see one of your works on the street?

I don’t know exactly what people think or feel but according to what they say to me, the look and the eyes are the most highlights.
-Do you have a secret you would like to share with us? 🙂
