A colorful dye works fascinates 5500 visitors by urban art. Last weekend the 11th edition of the „Industriebrachenumgestaltung“, short ibug, took place in Limbach-Oberfrohna. Till Sunday evening more than 5500 visitors came to the area of the former VEB Buntfärberei, also known as Rocherwerk 2, for this festival for urban art and culture. Within 10 days more than 100 artists from 15 countries including Germany, Austria, Spain, England, Belarus, Ukraine, Ecuador and Mexico, had transformed the industrial wasteland into a synthesis of the arts by murals, graffiti, illustrations, installations, multimedia projects and performances. The audience was astonished by the spectrum and quality of their art. Movies, guided tours, readings and a party made the accompanying program.

Who missed out on the festival last weekend get´s another chance this year at the „Day of Saxons“ from the 2nd to the 4th of September when the ibug opens it´s doors at Weststraße 52 again for all art-loving and curious visitors (Friday 3 pm till 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm). There will also be guides tours, readings and a party on Saturday evening again.

Started as a small graffiti-meeting by Jens „TASSO“ Müller in 2006 in Meerane the ibug has developed to an internationally known and famous festival for urban art which once a year brings together top-class artists from all over the world and lures thousands of visitors to abandoned brownfields in west-Saxony. The people behind ibug want to show, that urban art can also be successfully presented beyond big metropolises. Where the ibug goes in 2017 is still uncertain. But the project shall definitely stay in west-saxony, Germany.
