Stavanger, previously regarded as the ‘Oil Capital of Norway’, is fast on it’s way to becoming the world’s first ‘Art City’.
Renowned the world over for it’s annual Street Art Festival Nuart, the city recently commissioned the world’s first curated series of Street Art Buses. The first 8 buses, curated by Nuart, include works from national and internationally renowned artists Ernest Zacharevic (Lithuania), Add Fuel (Portugal), Martin Whatson (Norway) and Norway’s leading female street artist Hama Woods.
The regional bus company Kolumbus, which commissioned the works, has committed to a three year plan and will be introducing new buses and artists over the next three years.
Martin Whatson says: “It’s different, and as far as I know, it’s not been done before. Stavanger is Norway’s Street Art capital, so it fits perfectly into the city.”
