Mona Tusz \ New mural for UNIQA Art Lodz project 2017-01-10

Mona Tusz \ New mural for UNIQA Art Lodz project

The 4th realization for UNIQA Art Lodz public art, was recently finished. Polish artist Mona Tusz, a graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, created this spacious mural / relief with the elements of stained glass, wood and metal.mona-tusz-for-uniqa-art-lodz-project-lodz-poland-photo-michal-biezynski-1
The project was organized by Lodz’s Event Centre.

According to Michał Bieżyński, the Art Director of UNIQA Art Lodz project:

‘The new piece authored by Mona Tusz is a unique realization. Because of it’s spacious character, it could be easily described as a relief. It shows perfectly one of the most important assumptions of the whole UNIQA Art Lodz project – using different materials and techniques and creating various public art pieces, not only classical, painted murals. At Gdańska 132 st. we got a horizontal, relatively low wall, that You could see mainly from the pavement directly next to the wall.”

”Taking into account the exposition of the wall, the fact that people will see it from very short perspective, the best idea was to create a piece with lots of small details and different materials. The art of Mona Tusz in general is characterized by extremely detailed, painted texture, which is barely visible on the photos. In Lodz the artist took one step further and fastened to the flat facade elements with stained glass, wood and metal, so that the piece has gained a spatial structure. In addition, the southern orientation of the wall and lots of the sun that is on the wall, make these elements, in particular, stained glass, interact with the rays of the sun. During the night it’s also clearly visible because the wall has it’s own lamps”.
