We spoke to Spanish born artist from Andalusia – Wild Welva – who has brought the wild animals into the city walls accompanied with emotions and a link to human society.

-Introduce yourself to us!
+ My name is Seba Ventana, the man behind Wild Welva.
– Where does your tag name come from?
+ Wild Welva is a phonetic approximation of the arabic name of Huelva, the city where I live in the south of Spain. The tag came out when I started to re-wild the city with my drawings of Wild animals.
-How do you define yourself? Artist? Street artist? Anything else?
+ I am an artist who started to focus his works on the streets and walls, so I became a street artist.
– How did it all start for you, and what is it nowadays?
+ I started drawing and painting when I was a little kid. I loved painting animals at that time. I grew up in a small town in Andalucia, wild life was a part of the game. When I was a teen I worked on canvas and small-medium size paintings. It was in my adulthood when I discovered the power of the streets.
-What is the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?
+ I have a large cup of coffee, then I prepare breakfast for my five years old child.
-Street art is mostly a visually stimulating form of art. To add one more sense to it, what music would you pick to accompany your art work?
+ I love making videos showing the process of my pieces. I also create the music for the videos, or ask a good friend to do it for me. As a musician, I think that music is one of the best ways to express feelings and emotions.
-In all forms of art, inspiration is crucial. What is it that inspires you?
+ Day life things that happen around me and my people inspire me. Feelings, human relationships, love, fear.
-What is the hardest part while working on a piece of art?
+Beginnings are always difficult. I am always scared when I start a new piece. It takes me a a little while to start enjoying.
-Do you have an artist(s) you admire and what for?
+ As I love art, I admire many artists. From the classic ones to the contemporary ones. I love creative minds and the power of expression.
-Which cities are the most inspiring for you?
+ I like working in my own city, because I know it well. But I worked in many cities and small towns all over the world. I would say that Paris is a nice city for Street Art, mostly for paste up that is the technique that I work on.

-What other passions do you have apart from art?
+ I love music, nature, being with my family and friends.
-Do you have a wild project that you dream of achieving some day?
+ I am already working on my wild one.
-Tell us about your art, does it include symbolisms, messages or repeated patterns?
+ Wild Welva is a project focused on animals and wild life, but you can see an emotional, human and social aspect in what I do. It´s an emotional art, full of open messages, symbols and human stories.

– How long time does a piece of art work of yours usually survive for?
+I am very lucky. Normally, my animals survive for years.
-What do people first think of, or feel, when they see one of your works on the street?
+I love watching people staring at my works. I wonder the same every time.
-Do you have a secret you would like to share with us? 🙂
+ I am not a person of secrets. I try to be clear and open all the time 😉
