Invited street artist Thiago Mazza, was one of the 5 artists that were chosen to leave their inspirational mark in the city of Vukovar/Croatia for VukovArt Festival 2019. His work reflects on the beautifull and rich nature of Croatia which he has honoured on this large scale wall.In the words of the artist himself, who was very kind to send us images and explain the procedure, he says: “It has been a while that my study painting is based in a research of Roberto Burle Marx’s work, famous brazilian artist and landscape gardener, known as the father of modern garden. Just like Burle Marx had a research and valued the endemic flora of Brazil, i did a research about the endemic flora of Croatia and, for my surprise, i found the beautiful Iris. Very cultivated in garden of all around the world, in Croatia the Iris is called Perunika and is related with God Perun, the god of thunder, is a god popular of the slavic culture.”
“In the composition of this mural, i used a style of foliage that follows the aesthetics of plants that I have been using and the flowers of Perunika, that is considered on of the flower most beautiful in the world. Since 2000, the Perunika is considered a national flower from Croatia. With this sketch i found a way of honor the croatian nature.”
Excellent creation – hoping to see more from Thiago soon again 🙂
