22 galleries, national and international, have selected one of their artists to participate in this first part of the fair, URVANITY SOLO SHOWS 2021.
From February 25th, coinciding with the usual dates of the fair in Madrid, we present URVANITY SOLO SHOWS 2021, an online proposal of twenty-two solo exhibitions by 22 national and international artists.
Also in February, URVANITY LAB will be presented, a creative laboratory and online shop that encompasses collaborations with artists launching limited edition products such as ceramics, textiles or prints.
In May, from the 27th to the 30th, the on-site version will be held at its usual headquarters in the COAM Madrid (Hortaleza, 63) celebrating it’s 5th anniversary.
Urvanity 2021 will be held in two parts. Starting February 25th, in a first act, galleries from London, Bogota, Caracas, New York or Amsterdam will join Spanish galleries to present, in individual shows, the work of one artist represented by each gallery, under the name URVANITY SOLO SHOWS 2021. A way to get into the New Contemporary Art from any computer, mobile or tablet through the brand new site urvanity-art.com. An online platform that will allow us to see different artistic proposals, purchase art and access personalized content. The access is free -by registration- and from March 1st, it will be open to the public until March 28th.
2021 is also the presentation -digital in February and in person in May- of Urvanity LAB, a collaboration between the fair and contemporary artists developing new and exclusive limited editions products aiming to support creators beyond Urvanity and promote collecting from another prism. A precedent can be found in the collaboration between Urvanity and Canadian artist Ryan Heshka from 2020’s fair edition. “We want to bring art closer to us in other forms and formats and connecting with all kinds of audiences, leaving the fair environment to somehow return again to the street,” explains Sergio Sancho, director and founder of Urvanity.
The appointment in May at COAM, Madrid
The second part of Urvanity 2021 will take place from May 27th to 30th in Madrid. It will be, as every year, at its COAM headquarters (Hortaleza, 63), where galleries from all over the world will bring to capital the most ground-breaking artists of the New Contemporary Art scene. With 2,000 square meters and 22 galleries confirmed as of today the fair will be a safe space, adapted to comply with all the sanitary measures, distancing and capacity measures in force. From its beginnings, Urvanity’s objective has been to vindicate diverse languages in popular culture establishing a new dialogue with modernity and strengthening the current artistic panorama. In this way, the fair highlights artistic expressions that have emerged in urban contexts from the 1970s onwards, such as post-graffiti, surrealist pop or new pop art.
