M-City – Mariusz Waras born in the late 70s in Gdynia. A graphic artist, outdoor painter, traveller, amateur architect. Graduated from the Department of Graphic Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.. His work focuses on urban space. His murals may be seen in the streets of Warsaw, Gdańsk, Berlin, Paris, Budapest, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bolzano, London and Prague, as well as in art galleries, including individual exhibitions at the Arsenal in Poznań (2005) and the CSW Łaźnia in Gdańsk (2006). His work involves piecing together hundreds of carefully cut stencils to create a coherent imagined cityscape, generally of mechanical and industrial objects. He is intrigued by industrial spaces and their surroundings and has produced work up to 85 meters long – taking his inspiration from the factories, hydroelectric plants, chimneys, and cranes that dominated his native town and childhood.
He is an incredibly prolific artist, having notched up over 700 pieces to his M-City project alone. Born in Gdynia, M-City currently lectures at the Department of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.
