This year, after two successful editions in Amsterdam, the Street Art Awards will take place in Rotterdam. Artists and street art fans from all over the world will gather on Sunday the 16th of September in Theater Rotterdam. The Award Show will have an extensive side-programme and has everything in store to once again become a special event.
International Platform
The Street Art Awards foundation sprung from a collaboration between street art platform Amsterdam Street Art and Boomerang Agency. This past year, they have been working hard on transforming the platform, in the hopes of seeing the Street Art Awards grow to a global level. Sporting a new logo and brand identity the foundation is now ready to take the platform abroad.
Benelux Edition
For the first time ever, the Street Art Awards are aimed at artists from the entire Benelux. The award show aims to give diverse forms of street art a platform, such as graffiti, 3D art, and stencil art. Awards will be presented in ten categories, ranging from best new talent to best message. Artwork can be submitted via the website until the 10th of August.
Swipers
The selection procedure for entries is also new this year. About a hundred influential artists, street art fans, and collectors have been asked to make a pre-selection from the entries. They do this by using a mobile app in which they assess the artwork by ‘swiping’.
Judges
The pre-selection that the Swipers have made, ends up in front of the expert jury. Just like the previous year, the Street Art Awards organizers assembled a jury of experts and big names from the street art scene. This year’s judges are, amongst others; Yasha Young (founder and director of URBAN NATION in Berlin), artist FAITH74 from Los Angeles and Ralph Keuning (director of Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle).
