“Play” was the theme of this years Nu Art Festival and true to its subject, Ernests work remains as spontaneous and experimental as ever. Through a series of on street murals and a motion sensor operated installation in the Stavanger tunnel, Ernest references Norwegian culture and community.
The Murals
The mirrored portrait with a twist, of the Norweigan statue in the town centre and a cross stitched burning house painted in the patterned style of the Norwegian star.
In the face of current political, social and economic news, the reception of some of the pieces became far more poignant and provocative, almost attaching itself to the image to transform it to something else…particularly for the installation of children captaining an origami sailboat.
The weeks following the show will see Ernest working on a long time passion project in an awesome collaboration with the Iconic Martha Cooper.
