The Superfluous space (Section 80) presents “Toys”, a solo exhibition of CANEMORTO.
The Italian trio, invited in residency by Superfluo, has worked three weeks inside th exhibition space, producing a series of new artworks, which range from paintings to sculptures and videos.
CANEMORTO is an Italian trio active in the streets since 2007, characterized by a rough and brutal painting style. They have realized wall paintings and exhibitions all around Europe, building a personal language which combines graffiti elements with an imaginary religion based on a evil dead-dog divinity.
The project is directly linked to the movie “Amo-Te Lisboa” (now entirely available online), that documents more than 50 unauthorized wall paintings realized in the streets of the Portuguese capital. The exhibition represents a sort of sequel, in which the three characters of the movie, back to Italy, decide to leave the streets and undertake an implausible career in the contemporary art world.

The title Toys, which indicates the fake and incompetent writers in the graffiti world, inside the exhibition space assumes various aspects to compose an ironic reflection about the ambiguous border between street art, graffiti and contemporary art.
