Following on from successful solo shows in London last year and Ireland in the Spring, abstract artist Eoin (pronounced Owen) brings |The Opening 6.0| to 5th Base Gallery in Shoreditch. |The Opening 6.0| is a continued journey of exploration through the artist’s professional practice into the process of creation. Flowing lines, glowing light, bold brush strokes, negative space and crisp lines were brought together as the ingredients to this body of work. As well as seventeen new original canvas works, the collection includes a limited edition book of photography which offers the viewer an insight to the inspirations for the work and processes in the months leading up to this exhibition.
“As an artist, I have always found this dialectical idea of ‘one cannot exist without the other’ very interesting. I always thought that I tried to have an optimistic outlook when entering the studio, but in reflection, the early stages can be quite destructive in nature, adding and removing large sections. These actions can sometimes cause conflict in my mind as they change the course of the painting. Perhaps this also lends itself to the idea (and the end composition) which fulfills my inner thoughts, that creation cannot be achieved without going through the process of destroying what came before?…..”
Eoin will also be painting the Gallery gates live over the course of the weekend and invites viewers to the gallery on Saturday to have their portrait’s shot for a new direction of concept for a body of work in the coming year – Numbers are limited, if you would like to take part, please contact [email protected] to confirm and avoid missing out.
