Festival Inspire transforms the cityscape for 7 days into a visual wonderland with murals and live art, interactive installations, projection mapping, street performance, circus, music, and stuff not even we have thought of yet.Their murals stick around even longer, building a legacy of character, culture, and beauty.
The Festival creates a proactive culture of art in public spaces in Downtown Moncton. Dynamic murals replace dull walls that were subject to vandalism or ‘tagging’, neglect or despair. Everything is created in high traffic, high visibility areas to be experienced by the largest audience possible, and in derelict or vacant urban spaces for the purpose of reactivating those spaces. By creating a collaboration between local businesses, artists, community organizations and residents, the organization offers long lasting character, energy and beauty, economic growth and prosperity to the City.
Following a seriously successful first year in June 2015, and an incredible edition in 2016, we are coming back by popular demand for summer 2017.
The international guests this year come from all four directions of the globe: Etien (France), WD (Indonesia), Senkoe (Mexico), Bordalo II (Portugal), BirdO (Canada), Jon Fox (Canada) and Lucas Beaufort (France) – (a project initiated and managed by local business Working Class). For some, the beginning of summer is just the time to fly to Moncton for Inspire. Returnees this year include Jose di Gregorio (USA), Jeremy Shantz (Canada), Ruined Sundays (Canada).
Eva Bracamontes (Mexico) just finished a mural in the Village of Petitcodiac as a part of a side event in the rural community.
