Miniature sculpturing by AFt.

Belgian artist AFt has a passion that few do. He picks up in local markets little old sculptures, paints them and adding a theme, he leaves them in random city points to stand on their own. They become an individual statement, usually passing a certain message to bypassers, to society as a whole!

These two pictures of  work were made last summer, while he was on holiday in France.

“Retro, vintage, … it’s all coming back. History repeats itself. What’s cool today, might be ‘out’ tomorrow and cool again the day after tomorrow. We are willing to pay hundreds or thousands of euros for a nice piece of well-preserved art nouveau design. All fine by me… but it’s a pity we don’t think the same way about a nice piece of well-preserved seventy-year-old human being. Even more than your fancy retro-design furniture, they too carry an interesting story, you know. Yet all too often, we tend to see them as a burden.
I lost my grandparents too soon. I cherish the memories that are left and regret the times I didn’t have the time to listen to their ‘retro-stories’. If you still have your vintage-grandparents, take some time and listen. Maybe next week? Nah, make it today, they’re gone before you know it.”
