The mural, 28m long and 10m tall, shows, on a sort of stage, a big Minotaur menacing a crowd. In OZMO‘s latest work, the people can be seen as the honest and terrified community, or an indifferent, possibly silent accomplices of the oppressor. The image of the Minotaur, taken from an ancient rite from Guinea Bissau, makes the painting read even as a racist reaction from the people, isolating the different ones. So the meaning is double and very ambiguous: the Minotaur and the crowd are both the victims and the oppressors, depending on the point of view.
The mural “Minotaur” is realized in collaboration with the biggest association in Italy against the mafias, called Libera. Associations, names and numbers against mafias and with Alternative Karming Association. You can see more works by OZMO here.
