Portuguese artist Mauro Carmelino expresses his feelings towards modern society through a series of inspirational art creations distributing them across several cities in Portugal.
“We look back to past societies and feel we came a long way. Did we?
Are we free when all our lifes can be crunched in zeros and ones, somewhere on a server in California? When we work to pay for the food that used to be harvested, hunted or fished and now is packed?
Along several walls in Loures, Amadora and Lisboa, Slaves r´Us is an humorous reflection over very serious issues, some of them inspired by the personal stories of people somehow related to the intervened walls. Democracy, environment, freedom, environmental, security, employment and corporativism, portrayed as products of a Progress that seems to reach the expiration date.” – Mauro Carmelino
