BLOOP International Proactive Art Festival 2016 was held on Ibiza island for more than a month, this year under the theme NO FEAR. BLOOP is dedicated entirely to Proactive Art, where the proactive reaction on behalf of the audience is the finishing element of each artwork. This means that all activities are comprehensible and aimed for all, not to mention everything is completely free. During the celebration, arts such as the following take place: murals, interactive installations, fine arts, sculptures, video mappings, photography, creative workshops for children/adults, music sessions, concerts, performances and many more.
Renowned for his colorful intricate otherworldly style Pelucas (Spain) landed on Ibiza to create the one and only mural. The surface he chose for the NO FEAR edition of the event was tricky as there was a column right in the middle. But with the hands of the mastermind the peculiar structure turned into a weapon of choice. Who else plays with surfaces as well as he does?
This mural is Pelucas`s first contribution to the OpenAir.Gallery. Alongside the Spanish artist AEC Interesni Kazki (Ukraine), INO (Greece), Spaik (Mexico), and Yoshinobu Tatewaki (Japan) left their marks on the white isle this year. The OpenAir.Gallery is one of the first of its kind, a long term project to convert an entire island into a gallery under the skies accessible all year round. Now the project holds more than 20 murals where you can follow a route by the likes of Phlegm, Interesni Kazki, Isaac Cordal, Inti, David de la Mano and more.
Despite being an independent initiative BLOOP showcases traditional to new arts, music, workshops, and gastronomy. Little by little but surely, each year the festival has been consolidating its innovative position in the international contemporary art scene. After 6 consecutive years of festival it is now considered as an event for the next generation, showcasing a vast range of activities comprehensible for everybody (i.e tourists who come to Ibiza for the nightlife). Let´s not forget that this event has also become a re qualification program to change the tourism marketing tendency of an entire city by bringing art and culture.
You may consider a modest donation — however much you can afford, when it comes from the heart, it’s the kind of gesture that makes us warm with appreciation.
